SHMUP50 is a short, top-down, 2D shooter built with LÖVE (pun intended) as my final project for Harvard's CS50G course over on edX.

Destroy enemy ships and absorb like color bullets while dodging others.  Deal 2x damage to enemy ships with opposite color bullets. Increase your score and multiplier by destroying three of the same color ships in a row to create chains.

Welcome new dev! Even though I’m poor at Ikaruga I enjoy the feel and presentation. Would love to see your take on the player’s super-weapon.

Thanks for making time to check out the project! You know I was considering taking the homing laser and putting my own personal spin on it.  I was tossing around a few ideas from other games like G-Darius...although that laser might be too huge.

Updated win_64 version sound files for better looping.

Nice and very challenging retro-style game.

Hey, thanks for making time to play!  If you had to change one thing about the experience, what would it be?

I would add difficulty levels: e.g. easy - more player lives / less enemy projectiles + but less scores, etc..

Yep, makes sense.  The lowest hanging fruit is probably the extra lives.  I'll have to figure out how to add an options menu.

Love the game. I do find it quite hard that just might just be the game genre though, I often find the space invader type games quite hard

Yeah, I was going for at least a little more challenging since the game is short.  Thanks for giving it a shot!
